Meanwhile, in the "well..$hit" catagory......just found this...

01.10.06
The Outlaws would like to announce the departure of Henry Paul and Dave Robbins. We understand and respect their decision to seek their future with BlackHawk, and wish them the best.

BS on Henry Paul ...I went to the Starlands Ballroom NJ show last spring and Hughie and Henry looked like they were having a blast being back together for the 30th Reunoin.....then all this talk from Henry about it not being just a reunion, but the "long haul", a new CD etc .....and now he's pullin' out.....what a loser!!!!......he can take his Nashville country and dump it!!!!....I'm still going to the Outlaws show at BB Kings on March 18 because Hughie Thomasson is still one of my favorite guitarists......and Chris Anderson (who played at Warren's wedding) is pretty damn good too.....so ole' Henry can take his Califorina tan and stick it!!!!

They said the same thing last year when they played Chicago. This is really disappointing.

Henry said the same thing when he rejoined the Outlaws in 1986...just a song in the breeze.

What a shame....I was hoping to see him. I'm sure I'll still enjoy the show at BB's March 18. If not, I'll head straight over to Lucille's for Lefty, earlier than planned!

the outlaws died with billy jones (acquaintence of mine) and frank o'keefe...(friend of mine).

henry (friend of mine) has a very successful brand with blackhawk...

hughie (acquaintence of mine) just needs to find his new thang...(all you so-called outlaws fans...do you have hughie's solo album, "so low"? if not, shame on you...if more did, he wouldn't have joined that cover band called LS...)

(keep in mind all this was many years ago i...henry called me back when i responded to his ad in a bluegrass mag when he was putting blackhawk together...offered an audition, but i had a young girl child to raise...declined, prolly wouldn't have made the cut, but who knows?)

music business is nasty, hard, insecure and NO BENEFITS!...

judge not lest ye be judged...

the story is long...best of luck to hughie, monty, and david....

I'm reminded of the line allegedly made by Lamdog to Otiel when he showed up for the jam at the Beacon Hotel, "You're pretty good, but we already got a bass player."

Lefty's got a couple of guitar players already, but I bet if Warren shows up, he can join in for a tune or two.

And why not? Hughie, Monte and David are playing together aren't they?

While I like Chris Hicks as much as the next guy, I can assure you that you want be dissappointed with Chris Anderson. He is a smokin' (and I do mean smokin') player. I remember seeing him with the Outlaws in '86. Ironically Henry had rejoined the fold then as well. FYI Chris Anderson co-wrote "Old Friend" on "Hittin' the Note." Supposedly Chris A. has a solo record with an electric band version of "Old Friend." It also boasts the talents of Warren and Mike Kach. I'm told it is very good.

I hear ya Midnight! Like when they had Freddie Salem in the band. I don't know if it was you, but someone posted a link to Hitman Records .com. This is Hick's website and has video and audio of classic Outlaws. My only concern about seeing the Outlaws now is that I hope somebody would play and sing the Billy Jones songs. They're the best and Billy was my favorite Outlaw.

Ummmmm, let's leave Chris Hicks right where he is When he's on hiatus from MTB, his new project is The Velvet Jones Band with the one and only JIMMY HALL. Chris expresses no interest in returning to the Outlaws. According to him: "Life is good". Chris is a huge Beatles fan also

That needs to be updated on Chris's behalf because he has a new band Velvet Jones.

All true. Chris' solo record, called Old Friend, came out in '94, I think, and was one of the best releases that year, IMHO. Warren did play on it (slide-electric) as well as Matt Abts and Mike Kach. It is a great record, well worth searching out, although I'm pretty sure it is out of print.

I saw The Outlaws at the HOB Chicago last May (thanks to lefty for the comp tix) and they were fantastic. Henry looked and sounded 20 years younger and Chris played Billy's parts better than I ever believed he could without ever copping Billy's licks.

As one who saw them with Freddy Salem back in the '70s, Chris Anderson is such a huge upgrade from FS it's not even funny.

Really disappointed Henry left, though.
