Just back in from the Atlanta show. I didn't keep a set list, but they opened with Jessica... I haven't heard that in years! I heard Egypt for the first time and LOVED it! Hifi Buys Ampitheater was packed! The show was great as usual!

I missed the show tonight and was checking on here for the beginning setlist from a techie with a current update. If anybody can give us the entire setlist for tonight in ATL, it would be much appreciated.

I don't think I've heard them open with Jessica during my many shows since 1989. ATL typically gets INMCTB/DWYNM or Hotlanta. Any surprises tonight, new songs or special guests? CBH was in town last night, I believe.

Was at both shows. No guests. Awesome setlist. Check out the other thread I started about tonight's show for a run down of th esongs. It's not complete and they're not in order. But that is 90% of the list. derek played bass again tonight with Oteil on the Bass Solo at the end of Liz Reed.

No guests that I could see, the last three songs were Elizabeth Reed featuring Derek and Otiel on bass, Melissa and Whipping Post. Instant Lives were for sale, which I think was a first for Hi Fi Buys Amphitheater. A good crowd and plenty of htwers in attendance.

Well, I'm horrible with remembering set lists and I wasn't in the mood for writing it all down - sorry I can tell you this, there were no special guests which I was kind of surprised with. They have so many friends here... There was a good 40+ minute Liz Reed. Someone will give a detailed list by tomorrow, I'm sure! Melissa and Whipping Post as the encore.

Tonight was over the top - Hotílanta indeed! You could just feel the build-up coming all week for this home stretch through Raleigh, Atlanta and Charlotte. Iím too tired to write much but it was oh so wonderful, I feel full of bliss. Great to share this experience with so many guestbookers - it really has become family, hasn't it? This night ripped Ė even the crew was saying how good it sounded! West Best material all the way! Hereís what I remember Ė hope itís accurate:

Jessica
Done Somebody Wrong
One Way Out
Rockiní Horse
Desdemona
Midnight Rider
Maydell
Egypt
Statesboro Blues
Dreams to Remember
Liz Reed

Melissa
Whipping Post

I don't want this tour to end...but what a way to end it!

JNB

Last night was fan-f**king-tastic! (Someone remind me who was responsible for coining that term here on HTW.)

Great show and a great time in Atlanta last night. The crowd was wonderful...very loud and appreciative. I would guess maybe a couple thousand more than Tim estimated was in attendance, probably 14,000. Gregg was in high spirits and sounded awesome, both on the keys and vocally, not one botched lyric all night and he just sang his ass off and interacted with the crowd the whole evening. Warren and Derek were their normal stellar selves. I am more of a Derek guy but I thought Warren had a very strong evening, not to say Derek didn't, but Warren impressed me a few times with his restraint and some new ideas, twists, and pharsings on the guitar-very nice! Oteil and the drum trio steered the ship as they can only do, they were on top of it, below it, beside it, weaving in and out of it all night, excellent as always, they are the best. Couldn't ask a whole heck of alot more for the setlist it was ideal for me, much like the weather on this beautiful fall evening.

As the case always is in Atlanta got to see a whole slew of HTW folks including Randy (Bupp.), Ron (Hophead), Tan Dan, Karen (Big6), Ryan (StratKing), John (Bluedad), Patrick Crenshaw, CeeCee and her son Tyler, Rob Johnson, Paul (Horacegamet), David (Goliath), Joe Bell (JNB) and Libby. It was great to see/meet everyone, I'll look forward to the next time.

Libby I am glad you decided to go to the show it was nice to talk with you as always.

That is all I got for now, once I clear the cobwebs I might have some more on the specifics or highlights of the show. Already looking forward to next year.

Take care,

Ryan

JP,

Lol?! Can't say that I did, can I assume that was you, or was it me? Where were you pre show? Also where did you take the show in from, lawn, seats...? Sorry we missed you, I meant to put your # in my phone before we headed down to Lakewood, unfortunately I forgot.

Dude, last night was my first Brothers show. My mouth was hangin open the WHOLE time! The crowd was so chill, and gave nice vibes. It has been the only show where I wasn't nervous of the people around me. The show changed the way I will listen to music now.

I could've written this post in 1975 but there weren't any PC's then.

Thanks for the post.

One other thing I thought was way cool last night....seeing Mike Mattison heading into the show, me shouting "MIKE!!" and him turning to give me a big grin as I flashed him a peace sign.

Mike had to go in the front door? Makes a guy wonder what it takes to get on the A list?

Dave, that is way cool

Not sure which door he came in. He may have been on a beer run or potty break.

One semi-comical moment suddenly comes to mind: Near the middle of Moe.'s set, and amid screams of "Skynyrd!" and "Freebird!", Moe.'s bassist (don't know his name ... don't know much about Moe.), says, "we apologize for not being Lynyrd Skynyrd". At that point the band began a warped sounding tease of "Sweet Home Alabama". Those in the lengthy beer lines, or hanging out at the HTN tent may have missed that.

Monday morning - 7:00 AM ... sitting in my office listening to the IL. "Desdemona" ... I could cry. I only made it to four shows this tour - each distinctively different. People ask me why, and I only tell them that they don't get it.

So great to see all of my friends and new aquaintances in Atlanta Saturday night. No finer bunch o' folks in the world than y'all!

I am experiencing acute ABB Withdrawl Syndrome ... when do the Beacon dates get announced?

That is very cool. Samething happened to me in C-Bus Ohio back in 95. That show changed my life.

Haagen Dazs, are you Teebo?? From Finland? That I've seen for years at GABBA, spoke to again at the Potter's?

Man, I had a blast hanging with everybody at Barb and Greg's, then at the parking lot.
Especially enjoyed a little quality time with Hophead (or what's left of him!)
First time meetings (and I'll leave some out, always do, please forgive): Jamgrams, Slowhand6, Big Dave, Elagrua, Cathee, Cee Cee's son Tyler. Notable non-connects: Libby and the Wyatts.

Ms Libby, I believe you have a birthday this month, if memory serves? Hope you can spend a little time with us, it's been too long since Variety Playhouse last year.

Another wonderful year....from my flash run to NYC to having Lefty and No Mercy visit my town, to the great music 2nd Street Music brought to my town and getting to know the Sandlins better, to the Brothers at Oak Mtn. and Huntsville, with Jackie. to my little sojourn Saturday--and it's not over yet!! Thanks once again to Lana and Rowland, to the band, and to everybody here that has become a part of life. Its all good, thank you.
