They're off to a pretty good start....

But come to think of it...it's only 8:30 local time....what time did this show start? That's a lot of songs for this early yet, isn't it?

Yeah, I was surprised when I got the email, I did not plan on checking for the first song for another 1/2 hour.

Usually expect that Rob Baracco sat in when it's those 2 songs ending the set?

Hunter says that the drums solo was a total stand alone....

They finished Who's Been Talkin and stopped playing, then Drums?

I do not recall ever seeing Drums not coming out of something else.

just when you think they can't get more creative. They put the drum solo in the middle of a set. That's awesome. Jessica and melissa back to back. Hope to see blue sky as well on the set lists. Thanks for the post man

alright i'm at the hotel across the street so here are my inital thoughts.
that was epic. best show i have seen in years. thanks to chris thaw for relaying the set for me. show started by about 7:45 Central Time. I was at Birmingham and Derek had volume issues, but he was loud and clear tonight. Early highlights: Gilded was huge. jessica was a very welcome return. The set felt like a second set, so we knew we were in for something special. On to set 2. I didn't catch the harmonica player's name but he was playing a chromatic and was very impressive. I always like to hear Who to Believe. Derek's solo on WHo's Been Talkin was giant. Dreams with Derek is a religous experience and tonight was no different. MJ was real hot tonight. Then everyone knew their was only one way to close it. Whipping Post was a long one and Warren really drove the bus home hard. All in all, an exceptional show from the ABB tonight. I'll go into detail later but now its time to watch Conan.

Ill reiterate what hammond said. The show was pretty damn epic. PRobably the best brothers show ive ever seen which isnt to many but enough. Jessica was ridiculous, i thought that the gilded was just soso. Mountain jam was a special treat. The highlights (of which there many) were jessica, whydoes/ franklins, dereks solo on whos been talking was ridiculous. He seemed off compared to other nights and definitely compared with his band but off for him is still phenomenal. HIs whos been talking solo was one of the best i have heard from him with the abb. NO offense to anybody but the crowd was on the older side. So for the first half most people were sitting and buy the end everyone was in the aisles dancing and what not- thank God- i cant stand sitting. For it only being not very far into the tour they are kicking ass, i wouldnt say real tight yet but defnitely kicking ass. tonight makes me want to go see them in orlando next week. The elderly man playing the harp(yes chromatic) was a treat. I had never seen him before but the crowd and i loved it. Warren kind of seemed to take over on the interaction with him and other things tonight(like the end of whipping post) who knows i guess thats kind of his job but sometimes its disappointing but ill get over it. the trades with ivan on the same thing were cool too. Overall a very good show. I can remember only two tapers so hopefully we can all get a copy. The sound was alot better the second set but ill take the first as well. Ditto on the first set feeling like a second set. Thanks guys and sorry for the long winded, unorganized, rambling review.

The harmonica player was not smokey greenwell. I believe he sat in with mule a while back. This wasnt him. His name was short like two syllables. First name one syllable and second one syllable. During the same thing somebody sat in on drums for jaimoe also- i dont know who it was but it doesnt seem like anybody else noticed that has posted reviews here.

Cool. I love the after-the-show, 'a little bit lit' reviews. All good. The Abb has an amazing history in New Orleans, especially considering their early Warehouse gigs, just as in Cincinnati with the Ludlow Garage gigs, etc.

That setlist doesn't play around! Mountain Jam, Jessica and Why Does Love?/Franklin's Tower all in the FIRST SET? When was the last time they played Who To Believe? They played a drum solo that wasn't in a song? Who was the harmonica player? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?

Sorry, got a little excited The harp player could have been Smokey Greenwell, a local New Orleans harmonica legend who is more than capable of keeping up with the ABB. The Saenger is one of several great old-school theaters in the French Quarter, like the Orpheum and State Palace. Remember that the ABB had to cancel a show in New Orleans last year because of Hurricane Ivan, so I'm sure they wanted to make up for it.

Sounds like a legendary show, can't wait to hear it!

Did Gregg get they lyrics to "Jessica" out okay?

Seriously, that's a powerful set list. I hope that Savannah gets a "Jessica". I would love to (finally) hear "Egypt" as well. Does the band take requests?

Considering what the band has pulled out at other shows, I'd say they just might take requests.

Looks like a great show last night, in one of my favorite cities.

Anyone know if the did the complete Mt Jam reprise, with Derek slide solo, or did they just go back into the theme?
