Just wondering what the deal is with this. I dont comprehend it. The new orleans gig was recently booked- i just got tickets a couple of days ago. The codetalkers with jimmy herring the late night at the howlin wolf has johnny neel the count and apt q-258. It doesnt seem like derek would leave all of them right after a gig in new orleans. Is it even possible to drive all that way in less that like 15 hours or so?? It would be nice to see him play with the codetalkers and the neel and them. Anybody got any info????

i just looked on mapquest.com and it said the drive from new orleans to scottsdale is 24 hours which relaly means about 21 or so. Did they cancel the scottsdale gig???

I just looked on the mcdowell music mountain fest which is the gig in scottdale and it had the dtb from 3:30 to 5 or something so i dont really think thats possible

It seems like you're talking about the Bayou Rensezvous at the Howlin Wolf. I don't think Derek is booked for that gig--have you heard otherwise?

Derek or not, that's gonna be a great night of music.

I know hes not booked for that gig. The gig he has is for 9-11 at the fat city soiree. I just dont see how they could get to scottsdale in time for the gig the next day at 3:30 or whatever it s. In reference to the one your talking about I was thinking that could be the reason why they wanted to book this gig because of all of the other guys being in NO then- just a thought regardless of that i dont see how they could get to scottsdale on the 30th in time

I found the info now. Thanks for the heads up. I don't think this is listed on the "Jazzfest Grids," which is where I've been getting most of my evening info from. It isn't listed on Derek's site either.

Haven't heard anything about Derek at jazzfest. Would be great, especially if it's the 2nd weekend, when I'll be there. Good to hear about the Howlin Wolf show also. We caught the Zambi show (ARU reunion) there last year.

I went to jambase and tried to get tickets for the 29th, but only the 30th is available. Nothing about the 29th being sold out? Anyone know what's up with this?

Ok, me again. Just bought tickets from jambase, over the phone. Can't imagine Derek in NOLA and AZ the next day. Unless he fly's out early in the morning. He'll only get one hour back, since AZ doesn't switch to daylight savings time.

Howlin' Wolf show is later the same night. Hopefully Derek will appear. Susan came out last year and sang a couple. Mule's at Orpheum also that night, but I would think, Derek would favor, jamming with Jimmy. Anyhow, I'm psyched. Offbeat.com has the club listings, which are filling up nicely. Too many things to do during the fest. Other shows worth seeing, Melvin Sparks, Henry Butler, PBS, Sonny Landreth, Tab Benoit, Geno Delafose, Dr John tribute to Ray Charles, and on and on...........

Glad to see the NOLA date is up on Derek's site now. I'm guessing, if Derek can't make the late night jam at Howlin Wolf, Jimmy & others will come out and sit in with DTB, in the park.

I really have a hard time believing that they will get to jam together... with the different shows at around the same times... it would be really hard.... I just dont see it happening... It would be kick arse though.. the codetalkers is a multi band show and starts at 9pm (same time as dtb)... Jimmy would have to play with DEREK first then make it back to close the other show with the codetalkers....

anyway, who knows....
