I was on a few sites that have some pretty neat RNR merch and other pop culture, sports, movie products. A lot are pretty unique, and you can get customized.
Some of these sites you can get items with some of your favorite lyrics. What's cool also, they might have some obscure or hard to find artists like Bolin,Steve Marriott,Malcolm.young etc. So don't be afraid to look.

I am going to be ,hopefully, making a custom Bonham. When I get it done, if you would like one,I will hook you up. Still trying to put some finishing touches on it.

I will let you know when it's finalized, and make contact.

I went back And looked at the Page Rainbow one.....I like it more now. THInking about getting it in a Tank Top green to give it more of a retro look. Might embarrass my family and scare some people when I wear it!!

How much of this is licensed?

I have bought plenty of unlicensed stuff so I am not calling out anything. It just makes me wish there was more official merch available for us to buy from musicians and bands gone by. Because there isn't we buy from various sources and the musicians don't see anything from it. But at the same time it promotes them, so maybe the exposure is worth something. I don't know, a bigger topic I'm sure.

What does an "Ethically sourced" shirt mean? Does anyone care what ethically sources shirts means?

Nebish, i wanted to make an identical post but you beat me to it. And just like you i wanted to start that post by stating that i do not want to sound PC and that i bought from similar websites myself. But since HTW members often openly disapproved of bootleggers (music not moonshine!), ticket scalpers, inflated eBay prices, fake memorabilia & signatures, and especially unofficial merchandise i wanted to let people know that the artists we love do not get a single dime from websites like this and also the artists / photographers who made the original (copyright protected) content get robbed. But i guess it's just a sign of the times because even multinational Amazon (marketplace) is stock full of these unlicensed products.

And maybe it's Karma but the 4 or 5 t-shirts i bought from Aliexpress etc. all suck. Lousy prints and inferior t-shirt quality (although the latter also sometimes happens with official merch).

Every time I see shirt ads on facebook with obvious copyright issues I report the posts as a scam.

They remove probably 90% of what I report but there are numerous sources running the same ads.

rebrand is one company I'm constantly reporting for this.

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. I thought this would be brought up when I posted it. I do agree about having more official merch, I am all behind that, believe me. Its hard to find a Tommy Bolin "licensed" shirt along with a Steve Marriott, Paul Kosoff, Bernie Torme' and etc....

I think most of the bigger acts/artist currently and some of the classic rock ones that are still working have decent merch available. That is were I go first . But like you mentioned from "musicians and bands gone by", where do you turn? I like to show support and advertise some of the lesser known artist or some obscure ones. Years ago I had a friend make me a Cozy Powell shirt , and it was very cool. I guess maybe people who manage the estates could come up with" official" products, but yet again that probably costs some money up front ,and no offense to any artist I mentioned above, but how many people would be in line to order? I would, and assume others would too, but in the grand scheme.....not a whole lot.

Lets use Zeppelin and John Bonham as an example for a couple of topics.

Here is a link to Zep's shop https://store.ledzeppelin.com/clothing/categories/all-apparel

They have a fair amount of t's available. But if you get onto Amazon,Ebay,Old Glory,Liquid Blue,Rockabillia etc, there are a TON more out there and some very cool looking ones to boot. So ,( this is beyond my pay grade), how are other manufactures able to produce high quality merch of these bands/artists? Like I said, its way beyond me the business and legal aspects of Trademarks ,official, and licensure. Do the artist charge these companies a fee to mass produce these and use their name and likeness? I am sure I am missing something.

Why doesn't LZ honor one of the greatest drummers of all time and put out a Bonzo line of merch? I think that would sell, right? I went to Jason's site thinking he might have something there for his dad. Nothing I could find there. He had some cool stuff by the way.

Ronnie Montrose might not be a household name to some folks, but to us we know who he is. Went to his website and there is some nice merch there.

I wondered the same things when I looked at these sites.

In the summer of 2000 I went to an ABB / Hot Tuna show is Toledo, OH. My wife and I went to a bar before the show and as we left and were walking to the worst place I have ever seen the ABB, these two guys notice I had an ABB shirt on and asked if I was interested in any. So they showed me what they had. Same ABB logo on the front, one tie dye and one grey. They wanted 20 bucks each. They made up some cock and bull story about why they had them and I guess I was kind of naive about this kind of thing at the time. Gave them 40 bucks and went in.

So I told my wife we should check out their merchandise stand. Then it hit me. Sure as you know what, they had the same two shirts being sold for $35. So I figured these two guys stole them from the legitimate merchandise vendors. That's what I figured anyway.

Regarding some prior comments, I have no idea who got what, who didn't for the sale of these. Did the band lose money? Were the merchandisers on the hook for lost sales, missing merchandise? I have no idea of how that whole process works.

As I've posted in another thread I work some Chicago Cubs and Northwestern games and they inventory EVERYTHING at the food stands from hot dog buns to nachos if you can believe that. For this very reason. Ironically, I also worked a Cubs minor league team's baseball games when I was in grad school. We counted cups for beer sales to compare how much the sales should be based on the kegs. Certainly a subjective endeavor but it was done. I imagine it still is.

So I imagine the actual vendors / merchandisers would be responsible for the shirts. Just a guess though.

In 2003 I went to a Dead / Warren Haynes show outside Detroit and me and my buddy meandered down that street DeadHeads set up to sell things. Right before the Oakland County Sheriffs came by on their ponies and broke the whole thing up there was a guy selling Dead shirts. These things were hands down the ugliest things I have ever seen in my life and I love tie dye. I looked one over and they did a really bad job of making these things. They kind of got a Dead logo right but spilled ink all over it but I did buy one for 10 bucks just for the hell of it.

Sorry to get off topic a bit but it is kind of related.
