Ok, so I'm at Wendy's in Mt. Laurel, NJ near the Moorestown Mall (for all of you in the area) today to get lunch with one of the other guys I work with and when we walk in "Sugaree" by the Dead is on. I'm a huge dead fan, so I'm excited, we heard "Ripple" in the same store the other day. The "Soul Kitchen" by The Doors came on. I'm thinking even though the service is horrible today, the music is great. Then I'm sitting at the table and "Statesboro Blues" came on. I'm thinking now, this is the best Wendy's ever. Dead, Doors, Allmans all in one lunch, this is great. Has anyone else had a similar experience very recently at Wendy's with a sudden great change of music? Or is it just this one?

there's a diner on the upenn campus that I frequent where at different times I've heard Mountain Jam, Alice's Restaurant, Otis Redding, James Brown, and the whole Are You Experienced? album. The food is god awful, but I can use part of my meal plan there and you'd be surprised how far good music and good vibes can improve the taste and desirability of a restaurant. Mountain Jam at a restaurant! People finish eating and they're still hearing the same song. Brilliant!

Crossfire, now that's a great song. Have you heard the version on the SRV box set? Rockin'.

Hey mtnjam7...is that the same Wendy's that's by the Sage Diner and next to The Love Boutique? If so, I got my wallet stolen there a few years ago. It's not far from my office and we go there for lunch sometimes, but haven't been there in awhile. I do remember some good tunes being played there, tho. The Marlton Diner on Route 70 used to have Eat a Peach on their table jukeboxes. I'd play Mt. Jam, but I think they took EAP off

No, not that one, though I do go there sometimes for lunch too. The one in East Gate Center. But as for the Marlton Diner, whenever my friends and I go there, we make sure to bring a **** load of quarters and just load up the jukebox, just to have good tunes. I don't think Eat a Peach is on there anymore though.

The popular Atlanta based Kroger Supermarkets play great music....I've heard AWTNM, Statesboro, Liz Reed, MR and Gregg's I'm No Angel while grocery shopping.

Heard Pink Floyd in HEB (big grocery chain in Texas) the other day among some other great music. Makes that shopping experience a little more bearable.

I've heard ABB at the Kroger on Cobb Parkway (north Atlanta). It seemed to make my shopping such a pleasure. It must have taken an hour or so just to pick up a few things.

When I was in high school, I stocked shelves at grocery store on Birmingham's southside. That's where all the "freaks" lived. At night we'd kill the Muzak and pipe in the local progressive station, WJLN. That was when Birmingham actually HAD a progressive station. These days, the radio scene just sucks. It was a 24 hours grocery store. Customers would be shopping to the sounds of the Grateful Dead, Santanna, Traffic and others, but especially the Allman Brothers Band.

In addition to stocking shelves, I had to bag and carry out groceries for customers. Sometimes we'd get tips. Usually, it was a little bit of change, but some of the aforementioned "freaks" would occasionally had us a little bit of tin foil or plastic with a special tip inside.

Those were some really great days. I keep thinking that I'll write a screenplay based on these experiences. One of these days.

I use to work for a Mom and Pop outdoor gear shop in Canton, CT (like EMS but better). The owners were heads and we'd play great tunes all day long. The Dead, Marley, Widespread and of course the Allmans. People loved it.

Used to love to go to Red, Hot and Blues (it's a barbeque chain) because of the music, lot of old RnB, Stax's stuff, Sun stuff, Otis Redding, ect and also because of the old pictures and posters of various blues and RnB players. Barbeque was pretty good, too. Anyway, don't go so much (mostly take-out, now) because apparently some tin-earred management type decided it would be a good idea to put a TV in and let it blare above the music. I could understand it if it was sports that were on (and if they kept the volume down some), but what they had on the times was just your average TV fare (sit-coms, ect). It really killed the ambiance of the place, made it just another fast food joint. Damn shame, too.

That's nothing . . . I've been to one place where all you hear is ABB, Mule, DTB, Phil and Friends, Jazz is Dead, Robben Ford, Luther Allison, Johnny Winter, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP . . . wait . . . sorry, that's my office I'm thinking of.

I was in a doctors office once and they played about four ABB songs straight in a row. I don't remember all four but the two I remember were Blue Sky and Statesboro Blues.
