Man, I want to do this! Been too long since Variety Playhouse. Maybe it can be my New Year's Eve. Got it on my calendar.....thanks for posting, Brock.

Terry, if you read this....get me some flyers or something. I think several folks around here might be interested.

A little detail on the structure of the show at the end of this:

Please bring 2 cans of food for Atlanta Community Food Bank TDawg Presents & Big IV Productions, with the support of Tree Leaf Music, proudly bring you the first installment of what promises to be an annual tradition of spontaneous jams amongst friends celebrating the holiday season the only way it should be done. Featuring recording artists from original legendary Capricorn Records bands Wet Willie and Cowboy, as well as members of The Derek Trucks Band, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Blackberry Smoke, Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Blueground Undergrass, The Mosier Brothers Band, Capt. Soularcat, Copious Jones, and many more, Atlanta’s Holiday Hootenanny is sure to whet your appetite for next year’s edition!
The roster of musicians is a list of who’s who on the Atlanta music scene, as well as well-known regional and national acts: Jimmy Hall, Tommy Talton, Col. Bruce Hampton, Ret., Charlie Starr, Rev. Jeff Mosier, Ike Stubblefield, Grant Green Jr., Jeff Sipe, Count M'Butu, Caroline Aiken, Yonrico Scott, Johnny Mosier, Diane Durrett, David Blackmon, Ralph Roddenbery, Donna Hopkins, Wildman Steve, Benji Shanks, Ted Pecchio, Gaurav Malhotra, Copious Jones plus more surprise guests! The performance will
have three distinct sets that feature unique combinations of artists, bringing out the best in each jam and leaving plenty of room within a little bit of structure for a lot of spontaneity.

I knew that Hop-kins Head!

Looks like there will be some sort of prejam at the 5 Spot at 6 pm Sun. No exact lineup yet.

I'm out of the rumor business since my ABB-Fox thread debacle. Nevertheless, do not be surprised if a certain pony-tailed guitarist who is not Derek Trucks shows up!

Hey, that Jeff Sipe is a good drummer!

Remember your canned goods. I'll bring the 'shine!

Thanks Tom, but I deserve abuse on that one!

I recommend this place for a pre-show meal. Decent food, and lots and lots of beers:

Yes you were! Along w/ Jamgram/Syd, Buppalo, Atlbarb ( she's everywhere!) and MissTerry, who even sang backup on Keep on Smilin' to close the night. TDan said he saw Gapeach69 too.

This was a great way to sample many musicians. I have to say I was most impressed w/ Charlie Starr from Blackberry Smoke. Honorable mention to Donna Hopkins' daughter. We all know Jimmy Hall always brings it.

Here's a poorly shot video w/ Col Bruce and another couple of youngsters he has discovered:

For the record, my reporting that Tandan said he saw you is absolute fact! He might have been wrong (we did have a few before he said it). Maybe we'll actually see you in Macon in 2012!

Man, what a cold-dead blast!

I don't even know where to start. Great, enthusiastic crowd all night. I bet they open the balcony next year. I spoke to some of the musicians, they were very happy about how things were organized, how the production went. I would bet MissTerry was a BIG part of this.

And the musicianship! Really off the charts. No rehearsals, but you couldn't tell it. These were pros. LOTS of pros. Very high quality music. Continually anchored by Ted Pecchio and Jeff Sipe. Those guys must still be worn out! I couldn't even start to name favorites.
But it was fun watching the people on stage having fun, enjoying the gig. The Mosiers contingent did some fun stuff. I enjoy progressive bluegrass instrumentals, and that's something that's rare in my world. And how about those kids Col. Bruce brought out.
I believe their last name was Rhinehart? Couldn't have been more than 9-10. The bass player was dead on, and neither seemed the least bit awed by the company onstage with them. The Col. himself was in top form, and his set was one of the highlights.

Spent a little time before and after at the 5-Spot. The band there was the Greyhounds, which I understand is Mofro without J.J. Grey. Had a little time to visit with Kevin Scott, Duane Trucks, Todd Smallie, Ralph Roddenberry. Of course it was great to see all the GB folks already mentioned, and Bill Thames and wife Patty too. Always means something fun is going on!

Couldn't sleep when I got home....still too wired. Felt rough yesterday, but it was a happy rough. Man, you gotta' grab these little moments in life when they come your way!

Thanks to Brock for putting us on the Porter Beer House. The beef stroganof was outstanding, as well as the exotic beer. Got the evening off to a great beginning.

Thank you to all responsible. Really put me in the holiday spirit.
