Thanks, IP! After observing how much fun the Crowes seemed to be having at their recent Richmond show, I'm really sad they're taking another hiatus. I'm not a big fan of the word "hiatus" paired with bands I love...

thanks for the link.

i'm glad they are having a blast on this tour (100 shows this year). LOVED the show 11/20 @ the Tabernacle - took us to church that Saturday nite!!! Luther played his @ss off - yowza!! I missed Sometimes Salvation by one night, but was stoked to see the Velvet Underground's Oh Sweet Nuthin' live - Rich killed it!! there were several times during the jams that they palyed extended Allman Brothers passages - Dreams was one, and it made me smile to see them all locked in and hitting some cool peaks and valleys, just having a great time on stage. this show was much better than the one at Chastain last year when they finished the encore @ 10:35 and were gone?!?!?

20 years of freak n roll and i've walked along side them the whole time. makes me feel old... i can remember the afternoon of their last small show in Athens, after Southern Harmony was released, and seeing them walk out of the Subway sandwich shop and up the hill to the 40Watt and thinking, these guys are going big. i saw several AMAZING shows, and some real stinkers. their return a few years ago got amped up tremendously when Steve Gorman returned and Marc Ford was with them. Luther has done a great job filling in, and seems to be really going for it. rich musta given him the ok, because the stuff he is doing now is much different than what he was playing last year with them.

just as with that Dylan article from the ajc, it's in their blood. they enjoy playing, and will be back in a couple years. i'm glad they are going out playing balls to the wall with something to prove and leaving everybody happy.

Luther IS a Crowe and not just filling in IMHO. The chief reason Luther's stuff is different from one year to the next is because he's becoming a badass in his own right. His rise in talent level can only be compared to Derek Trucks who grew into the player he is right before our eyes after joining the ABB in 98. Rich (and I suppose Chris) have a great eye for talent. The addition of Luther and Adam MacDougal more than replaced the previous members. They've made me go Marc and Eddie ... who?
