People say there will be more babies because people are forced to stay home, but will it also inspire musicians creatively to write more new music?

There can always be good that comes out of disasters. People will have to slow down and here in NY the city that never sleeps will have to. No Broadway shows, no being out all hours of the night.

Will people get stir crazy or spoiled ordering out food rather than going out?

This thing will bring changes in the country, so what's a musician to do throughout this?

Kick back, create and bring peace among the chaos.

While this is not new, it is inspiring from an orthopedic surgeon named Elvis Francois from the Mayo Clinic.

Nice post Gina, I think You may have found one of the few bright spots of the current situation that humanity finds itself in, can You imagine the jamming that is happening on the couches, basements and back rooms of these artists?? Why not some high tech, long distance collaborations that would never have taken place before?? Could be unlimited really? But how would it pay off for the artist?............Peace.....joe

Crazyjoe you raise some profound possibilities.

I’m torn myself. While on one hand I believe greater collaboration makes better quality music and in times of physical distancing I think there’s less overall collaboration, on the other hand that same distancing I think would demand better listening to the other instruments which would increase quality.

On the one hand, people will have a lot of time to woodshed at home and times of stress can give some people a lot to write and sing about and maybe it will give people a sense of urgency. On the other hand a lot of people are going to get sick and die, many others will get depressed, which doesn't do much for creativity. And this is going to do enormous damage to the economics of the music business, which were already in bad shape for artists. Streaming pays so little that touring was the only way a lot of musicians could make enough money to keep going, and now it's impossible to tour and it's not clear how many people are going to go out to concerts after or if audience sizes are going to be diminished.

I haven't read much about it but there's some interesting reporting out there on why the 1918 flu pandemic left a surprisingly small cultural footprint. People wrote about it, just less than you think given how huge and world-changing it was. I'm not saying that will happen with the coronavirus, but the outcomes of things like this can be unexpected.

Pay Pal for the gigs? Look at how many paid for Moogis, it would just be on a smaller scale but guests could Skype in to the livestream and jam. In the summer house backyard livestreams among musicians, or from rehearsal space, warehouse space etc.

And those who made it could build or get and rehab apartments for the road crew. I heard back on the day, Leon Wilkerson owned some apartments that roadies lived in. I hate to say there's going to be a lot of homeless people but there will be. The moratorium 90 days no evictions to those who lost jobs is like a stay but eventually that lost rent must be made up. If people are out of work they cannot make it up.
