Wow. Hadn't seen that photo before. After Ronnie was killed in the plane crash, Dickey was called for his reaction and Dickey didnt want to talk about it. Said he and Ronnie had become tight and Ronnie had just told Dickey he is the King of Dixie. Dickey said he told him "No Ronnie you are". Then said" I don't want to talk about this right now. "

It's been in trade circles for many years and in recent years it's also been released on CD (at least 2 different versions) and vinyl sourced from the "original" radio broadcast. Releases are "grey area" between illegal / bootleg and legal due to European Union copy write laws that differ from US law. But most of these releases can also be easily found in US brick & mortar stores as well as online stores that usually do not have bootlegs in their stock. Often labelled as "imports". But all those little companies selling these radio broadcasts on CD and vinyl are getting greedy or sloppy and that "grey area" is getting more and more dubious. Some recordings have also seen earlier official releases directly from the artists or their record company or consist of recordings that never have been radio broadcasts in the first place.

I believe this was done in late November 1978. Leon Wilkeson could not participate, as he was the most seriously injured of the band from the plane crash survivors.

Actually it was Gary Rossington that penned the name Prince of Dixie on Dickey...

Okay dannyspell. There is an interview that may still be on You Tube where some radio guy called Dickey when Ronnie was killed and Dickey said Ronnie told him he was the Prince or King of Dixie, whatever it was, and Dickey said to Ronnie " no you are Ronnie ". When the man wanted to talk more about Ronnie, Dickey said " I just can't talk about it anymore " and hung up.

And if Ronnie and Dickey got in a fist fight, I wonder who won? The guys in Skynyrd apparently were afraid of Ronnie and the guys in the ABB were afraid of Dickey. I understand Dickey got into it with Butch Trucks and broke his nose and knocked out a man at a Bob Dylan show who told Dickey after he had a little rough outing playing with some other band for a few songs prior to Dylan coming out at a Presidential Inauguration party, "man you haven't paid your dues. You need to do some woodsheding before you play an important gig again". Dickey said he hit that man so hard in the head it knocked him on top of Bob Dylan and he rolled onto the floor unconscious. Dickey then said he got worried he was with the government or something but he wasn't.

When Ed King disappeared on the band in eastern Virginia, I read in I think it was Rolling Stone back then, Ronnie said " Nobody quits this band during a tour. If I find Ed King I'm going to kick his a**.

Now on this site I think it was, around the year 2000, Butch Trucks said he was going to kick Dickey's a**. Someone posted " On no another broken nose".
