I like Dire Straits, but love Mark Knopfler's "Golden Heart" CD.

Jeeze, I'm not familiar with the entire DS catalog and have never seen them live, so I'm not sure about that, Skip. I just became acquainted with "Golden Heart" recently, and it was love at first hearing. Much variety, one song has a Cajun flavor, one is like a Renaissance ballad, one's a kids' song, and one in particular is perfect for slow dancin' nice and close. Check it out, great stuff.

I heard that CD last Fall at an outdoor party. It is real cool. Not too much different from DS. A little more mellow though. ____________________ Good lucks never really been a strong suit of mine, can't get a nickel for a dime... |

Speaking of DS, and Money for Nothing.....as a historian I abhor "censorship"...so if you have the original, keep it "safe"....the version on the greatest hits package is missing the controversial portion ("..the little faggot.." part).
Like some of us have no recall of what he really sang
I wonder if the record company will ever change GA's lyrics on "Aint Wasting time no more"?
Cheers

I like the early Dire stuff but dont know if I could go too much mellower than that. I'll listen for it & check it out. Thanks for the reviews & updates ladies. You all put me in the mood for some Danny Elfman & Oingo Boingo. Dead Mans Party sounds like a starter for the afternoon here. adios ____________________ There ya go man, keep as cool as ya can, face miles of trials with smiles, It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave...keep on thinkin free

Brothers in Arms was a great album from DS. I have it on vinyl, but not cd! I saw them live once. Knopfler has a strange guitar style, but it certainly works. ____________________ Hittin' The Web::Hugh Duty Memorial Giveaway has begun!

Actually, no. I have the "Local Hero" soundtrack, if that counts. What are your favorites?

Hi Everybody!
How is it we got like one or two posts on Thongs & Panties and a page and a half on Cod Pieces? Are we overlooking the important things?
RON, I have a question about one of the shows you haven't given away yet. 8-15-92 Weedsport. I picked it up on a B&P here on the Forum a couple of weeks ago. Great show but I don't remember who I got it from. Anyway the one I got cuts off in the middle of Dreams and I think (if the setlist is similar to most other 92 shows) there should have been a Whipping Post after that. Does your's have complete Dreams & Post? If so, I would love to get Disc 2 from you. I traded the Show to PhillyBob before I listeened to it (he didn't have it If you can believe that) then I listened and realised it was incomplete. I'd like to get a complete copy for myself and so I can send Bob a good Disc 2.
I thought the 3 Dogs were named Larry, Daryl & Daryl. Didn't they sing One is the lonliest Number? ____________________ "With the help of God and true friends I've come to realize,

"Golden Heart" is the only solo I have. I have heard a cut off of "Ragpickers Dream" and I did read a good review somewhere about "Sailing to Philadelphia". ('Course reviews are usually not alot to go on) I have heard that the video "Live in London", I believe, which is from the "Golden Heart" tour is a great tape, but haven't seen it. I do have his duet cd with Chet Atkins, "Neck & Neck",.....now there's some pickin. |

JIMMY!!! Welcome to the sequel to KCJimmy number one! The Weedsport show I have is prolly the same you have. Odds are you got it from me or from someone I BnP'd for. Every time I see that show at etree, the notes say, "cuts off during Dreams, no Whipping Post" Too bad, the sound quality is one of the best I own. Other than that, it's a great show that I was at! Welcome again friend to KCJimmy's Godzilla Thread Lounge! ____________________ Hittin' The Web::Hugh Duty Memorial Giveaway has begun!
