Description: Ed Shane of Atlanta's WPLO-FM hosted Duane Allman in 1970 on a one hour radio broadcast he called "The Duane Allman Hour" (it was a one-time event). Duane talks about life, love, music, Clapton, forming the Allman Brothers, the first two albums, and many other things... A must-listen for any Duane fan... and if you're not a Duane fan, you probably will be after you listen!

rmj777There will never be a sound that even comes close to this group when they were at their finest hour, yet, Greg seems to keep it going with the help of "wonder child" Derick Trucks. I love their new stuff!!!
waveymonjbThe very first FM station I received. Me and a friend plugged a transistor radio into a bass amp and tripped-out!!! Ed Shane hosted the very first pop fest in Atlanta. The Allmans played the Park the next weekend Unfogettable!!!!!!!!!!!
waveymonjbI listened to this interview when it was broadcast.
shineboyThere will never be a finer guitarist than Duane in my book.
vuduchickenI can't remeber the last time I have enjoyed anything as much. Thanx Rowland for making this available. The first time I ever heard Duane was the live version of Whipping Post in 1971 on WNEW-FM 103.7 New York I was 12 and it changed my life. ***Duane R.I
BillyBlastoffGreat stuff!
floydThe interview with Duane lets you go back into "The Way Back Machine," and I remember when radio stations had extended interviews with artists such as Duane. He is sorely missed even today, and you're right, he was the greatest guitarist of all. He liv

RebaWhat a thrill! I've wanted to hear his voice since 1970, and now I do. Reba Haygood, from the outskirts of Macon--Jackson,Ga.
horacegammetGreat stuff--not as funny as WABC--but more focused--a lot of depth. Many great points made.
lyonsi couldnt hear anything it wouldnt play
sushimanI remember the night Duane passed, within a year or so of Jimi, Janis and Morrison. My naive youth led me to believe that others would come to take their place. Hasn't happened, and the vacuum left in their wake continues to suck. Which brings me to Clap
sushimanton. What a waste!!! Hasn't done anything remotely creative in over 30 years. But even in his heyday, Slowhand never came within a light year of Duane's depth and passion. Just compare any of EC's pre-1970 output to Eliz. Reed/Fillmore and you'll see.
KraghHmm this isnt loading for me...
tp1021Great hearing Duane's voice. He was a pioneer for guitarist in the early days Rock and Roll.

wilmarwilWild hearing Duane's voice. I was expecting to hear a higher voice because of his singing and from voiceovers on LFE. This "Cat" was the greatest, you know? What sealed the legend was his dying young, Clapton has made it as a survivor. Had Duane live
wilmarwild, I think you would see it more in Gregg's music and the almost country bend the band took after his death. (It wouldn't have happened) Thank God for sites like this that open more of Duane's career to us as a history. Love you Duane, hope to see you
wilmarwilon the other side
