That was 21 seconds of pure musical genius. Thank God it was only 21 seconds because no one could handle more. Nice to see him do his little dance in both songs.

Jim Henson's Muppets are getting very life like.

Can't believe that you would bash some Zeppelin and Sabbath albums and then try and pawn this stuff off to people.

Not an original idea out of these guys. Sabbath rip-off that has not added anything new to the mix. Heard Sabbath do it in 1970.

The singer is clearly shooting for comedy.

all these "evil" bands are just selling an image...no different than a "hair" band. The style may be different but very rare is thier musical substance. If you dig it that is kewl.

Their albums Nightfall and Ancient dreams are fantastic and show the direction Sabbath should have taken after Vol.4. Doom metal is cool. As someone said, when the metal sounds like a coffin lid being slammed head first into a pit of wet, primal sludge, then you know it has to be a good day and when it's combined with a voice that could accompany kings as they stride to their thrones, it's a match made in heaven.

I used to listen to some Candlemass years ago...a whole bunch of groups were doing the "Sabbath" thing at the time....another band was Trouble....they were better than Candlemass.

With my depressed "state of mind" at the moment...that first video was a little to morbid for me at the time..LOL...thought I was going to have a panic attack after watching it.

The "Doom Dance" reminded me of when I used to jump out of bed in the middle of the night to "shake off a leg cramp"

Nothing wrong with the music...just not me anymore...but it used to be.

Rock on Bro !

Twenty five years ago I would've been all over this but not so much today. I've known about the group for a long time but never really heard them play or watched a video. It's hard to watch and not laugh... perhaps the concept video is something they should avoid. Sabbath usually hits the spot when I need the fix but like OldDirtRoad I enjoy Trouble. Their first album was an underated masterpiece. Very doom oriented but, as with Sabbath, it leaned more toward being aware of and avoiding evil rather than embracing it.

I found it hard to watch that first one without laughing . . . actually, I couldn't do it. I burst out laughing on a couple of occasions.

It reminded me of some band - fronted by Artie Lange, maybe, making fun of Jack Black making fun of Black Sabbath.

That was Scott "Wino" Weinrich...he's been around for a long time.

Also sang and played lead for a band called St.Vitus...named after a Sabbath song.

From Wikipedia :

Wino's musical career started out in high school when he started his first band, War Horse. He went on to form The Obsessed in the late 70s. This version of The Obsessed would release a 7" entitled Sodden Jackal in 1983 on Invictus Records and have a track featured on Metal Blade Records's Metal Massacre VI. They also recorded an album entitled "Live at the Wax Museum" in 1982. In the mid 80s he disbanded The Obsessed and moved to California to sing for Saint Vitus. During this time Wino also anonymously played bass for The Mentors[2] and filled in on vocals for local doom band Lost Breed. In Vitus he covered vocal duties as well as additional guitar work on some tracks. Vitus put out three studio albums: Born Too Late (1987), Mournful Cries (1988) and V (1989), a live album (Live (1990)), and the Thirsty and Miserable EP (1987) with Wino. After Vitus signed to Hellhound Records, Hellhound put out The Obsessed (1990), a collection of archived Obsessed recordings. This prompted Wino to leave Vitus and reform The Obsessed, who now had a record deal with Hellhound Records. This incarnation of The Obsessed released some 7"s and two more albums: Lunar Womb (1991) and The Church Within (1994) (the latter was picked up by Columbia Records) before calling it quits in 1994. They also released a documentary video that year. Wino then formed Shine which released a single 7" with two songs. The band later became Spirit Caravan with ex-Wretched (another Hellhound act) vocalist Dave Sherman on bass. Spirit Caravan put out two albums Jug Fulla Sun (1999) and Elusive Truth (2001) and the Dreamwheel EP (1999) before disbanding in 2002. Wino joined ex-Pentagram guitarist Victor Griffin in his outfit, Place of Skulls, for one album, With Vision (2003) before leaving to start his most recent band, The Hidden Hand. The Hidden Hand released a 7", three studio albums, one DVD/CDEP, and a split 12" with Wooly Mammoth before Wino disbanded the group in August 2007. He's currently planning a new project called Shrinebuilder featuring Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius (both of Om and Sleep) and Scott Kelly of Neurosis.

Wino recently contributed vocals and guitars on the track "The Emerald Law" for Dave Grohl's project, Probot. He can be seen playing guitar in the Probot video for "Shake Your Blood," which features Lemmy on bass and vocals. He has also collaborated with ex-Death SS guitarist Paul Chain for some of his solo work. Wino worked with Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, Fight guitarist Brian Tilse and Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford in the band Bullring Brummies, who are featured on the Nativity in Black Black Sabbath tribute album. He also played guitar on a demo for the band "Gypsy Moth" and can be found singing and playing on the Mystick Krewe of Clearlight split CD with Acid King. Both The Obsessed and Spirit Caravan have released anthology-type albums featuring rare tracks, Incarnate (1999) and The Last Embrace (2004) respectively.

Had I heard the Candlemass song and not "seen" it I might've cut them some slack... on second thought probably not.

My thought was some Chris Farley skit. Hard/impossible not to laugh which is why I put the Muppet reference. I think we were supposed to find him evil. When they all started to stomp even a couple of the guys are laughing if you look closely. I will admit that I fast forwarded to that part because someone's comment on youtube said it was funny.

I have heard much better bands at that sort of thing. Guitarist was mediocre at best.

LMAO I felt the same at first but bored of it quickly.

The second clip he put up was just noise. Not sure what he hears in it or what the point of posting it was.

Celtic Frost opened some shows for my buddy's band way back in time. It was their first time playing in North America and they had no money. I mean no money.

Various people in Montreal put them up with a place to stay. A couple of guys stayed with my friend. They were pretty damned noisey but they were a little a head of their time. many bands sounded like them years later.

Voivod also opened for my friend on a number of occasions. I can't really believe that they went on to have success. There were many bands (including mine) that buried these guys. Oh well. Later cocaine would seek our revenge on them.

Trouble's first two albums are good, but Candlemass took doom metal to the next level.
Incidentally Trouble opened for them when they played their farewell gig with Messiah few years back.
