One of my friends has a birthday today. It would suck having your birthday linked to such a tragedy. Our nation still morns. Godspeed

There was an interesting article in yesterday's USA Today -- the tough balance of trying to move past the attacks, vs. not forgetting about them either.
It was Patriots Day long before these atrocities were committed
I say let's not give terrorism any more mention or credibility than we must
Happy Patriots Day
And may we never forget

September 11th is the worst day of the year for me now..... too much to take.

I got a call from my best friend on the morning of 2001, telling me to turn on the tv...then he hung up.

I did, and saw what was going on...then I saw the second plane hit, live on tv.

I called my buddy back, and we talked most of the day, watching the news as it came in.

I remember flipping the channels a lot, and finding stuff that other stations weren't showing yet...I heard about the Penn state crash that way, and the hit on the Pentagon. The news would just tumble in, some stations having it first...it was remarkable and sick.

Flash forward to last year, the fifth anniversary of this heinous act, and I'm saying goodbye to my best friend.... the one who called me five years earlier on Sept 11th... as he dies from a brain tumour.

It's now been a year since he died, and it's made this gloomy day even sadder for me.... I miss him so much, he was the salt of the earth.

EVen before he died 9/11 reminded me of him...now they're forever linked in my mind.

I remember the day quite well. It was a beautiful sunny day (up to that point) and then the news alerts started coming in. I was working about 18 miles away in Purchase, NY. My three most vivid recollections are:

1) When I saw the first tower collapse ( I could see the smoke and debris trail from my office!),

2) seeing video of the plane hitting the second tower,

3) seeing video of people jumping out of windows

On a personal note, I know a woman that worked about three floors under where the plane hit in the first tower. She told me that they were constantly being told to stay put in their offices. She said f-that and walked more than 60 flights of stairs. She got out about 20 minutes before the tower fell!

I'm not trying to bum anyone. Just keeping it real. My heart goes out to those lost on that tragic day, and to their loved ones left behind. Never forget.

I was working this day 6 yrs ago at shewa stadium.I witnessed the 2nd jet smashing into the tower.I spent the next week at the stadium which was the staging area for police, firefighters, and ems.
I'm watching the original newscast for the 1st time today. The 1st time I could bring myself to watch.
Rest in peace and never forget...

the reality is we need to kill all the radical muslims before they do somethig like this or something much more devistating.policy and negotiation does'nt work with these people i'm not being a hater but these people wake up everyday trying to find ways to kill people that ddon't think as they do. i'm all for peace and love but in todays world they need to die.

Get a grip, it won't happen, and why would you want it to?

In trying to kill all the radical muslims, you become a person who wakes "up everyday trying to find ways to kill people that ddon't think as they do".... in other words, you become your enemy, making you a hypocrite.

abbev, that will accomplish NOTHING.
It will not bring any of those who died that day back.
That will make us as bad and as evil as they are.

Praying for those not forgotten. Folks, I can tell you that strangely for the last six years, morning or night, without provocation I'll look at clock of some sort and always check the time at 9:11.
It's weird because I typically don't care what time it is but somehow I when I do look it's at 9:11
and I always think back to that tragic day.

i think it is important to revisit those pictures..they are horrible..but they serve as a reminder that we are as vulnerable as anyone and we need to stay on the same page with each other..one of the things that saddened me the most is that for months after these cowardly attacks, we banded together as a country..people were more considerate, kinder to strangers and more paitient...sadly, for a lot, it didn't last long...

but it flourishes here, and that is why i value this place and love you all so much...
