So I've just realized in one glorious but all too short lived moment that we lucky Canadians are to get not one but TWO Bros. shows this summer in the Toronto area. My ecstatic response was quickly replaced by one of disappointment however, when i realized that the venue has been changed. while the usual venue is the Molson amphitheatre, right on the lake with great a great breezy, outdoor feel, it has been changed to the stiffling, "sitting room only" (ie. stand up to dance and get yelled at) Casino Rama theatre. i'm so upset, i honestly don't even know if it's worth going to see them at Rama. i so need to get my groove on, and this other venue is just not conducive to that. someone talk some sense into the powers that be!

I agree. I've seen some great ABB shows over the years at the Molson Amp. and its the perfect setting in the summertime. I think there is also the chance that more than a few who catch shows at Rama are there for the "action" in the casino and go to the show just because its whats playing and they are staying overnight.

Still, any date in Ontario is better than none I guess.

It may be that the attendance at each Molson Amp. show has declined. The last show there the last section and the lawn were empty.

Last show in Ottawa had 25000 people. It was part of the Blues Fest but still the attendance was there. Not sure why the promoters wouldn't be trying harder to bring them back.

While I agree the Amp shows are great events down by the lake, I would have loved to see them back at the Avalon Ballroom at the big casino in Niagara Falls. Not sure if any of you went to those shows, but they were in the Beacon league as to performance and crowd. No one sat all night. If it was the players coming in from the slots, they were all Bros. fans from what I heard and saw. 1500 seater was welcome. Rama is 5000 but still great sound. I like the change of venue as I will be starting my holidays up in that neck of the woods and now with 2 ABB shows!

Cdn.Mule is right about the crowd shrinking at Molson Amphitheatre and would guess that's part of the "problem". The casinos have so much $$$ and can absorb more costs than a promoter and use the acts as loss leaders to get us in their buildings...

That said, the shows at the Niagara casino last year were great shows. One of my coworkers has seen a few shows at Rama and says there's not a bad seat in the house , so if that's where they are playing this year so be it.Better than not coming to Canada at all....

No pre-sales for Rama. The downside of the Casino thing, if there is no money in it for them why participate! Oh well, we will conquer and acquire great seats as always just gonna have to work a little harder for them!

It may be the pits for you, but it's awesome for me to have them come so close to Barrie, saves me driving in crappy Toronto traffic.

I bet the band smokes Rama....

Prefer the out of TO gigs myself. I can do with out the traffic and the $20.00 to park at Ontario Place along with the $7.00 beers. Rama will be great! IF the shows are anything like the Avalon shows last year they will be memorable.......y'all a great bunch!

The only problem I have with most Casino shows is they give incentives to the band to get on and off the stage as quickly as possible so you return to the one arm banditos.

Expect the unexpected with Les Brers....I was happy with the
Niagara venue, sure didn't see Casino Rama coming. But the
casino there has a rock-heavy line-up this summer with Dylan,
Stevie Nicks, Bachman/Cummings, et al. Wouldn't it have been
nice to see the Allmans at Massey Hall in Toronto for a couple of
nights?! Money talks.....

Tix go on-sale next Tuesday(!) at noon(!!). That's somewhat
bizarre, no? And not just for the Brothers....but for a whole
slew of shows in July. So if you want to get Dylan *and* ABB
tickets you'll be competing against yourself. Sweet.

Massey Hall, the best venue I have been to anywhere. It would be wonderful if they would do a few nights there (it holds about 2600), but alas not to be. Check out the hall for those that don't know it.

Ya its a little wierd. The casinos seem to run there own show as to tix etc. I do like the fact that all are going on sale at the same time, probably a bigger demand for Dylan, thus allowing the peacheads some room to buy via online. The phone option will be crazy.

Beer is good enough reason, perfect time of year to rent a cottage in area and then go to shows at night. That would be awesome

I'm thrilled and grateful they are playing not one, but two shows in my own country within a very reasonable driving distance. I don't care if they play Molson, Casino Niagara, Casino Rama or some other venue. I've had awesome times at Molson, Niagara and I plan to do the same at Rama.

I want to show my appreciation and say thanks to the band for making the effort to come here every year for the past three years. I also want to encourage the guys to continue coming every year.

Thank you Allman Brothers Band!

Anyone know if the hotel rooms at the Casino hotel are expensive? There's no info on room rates on the website.

If Niagara was any indication they will be pricy. There are however lots of other options. Cheaper rooms in Orilla proper and as leafsfan says look at rentaing a cottage on the lake. My cottage is only 40 mins so I will be making the commute.

Lake Couchaching is on the North side of the highway and Lake Simcoe to the south. Because of the midweek show you should have no problem, but the area is right in the heart of the summer toursit region and the weekend after the shows is a long weekend in Ontario. Don't delay, book now! Try these sites.
