open a album and or concert. I always thought it is somewhat important to kick off a concert with a good kickass song or open a CD with a real strong track. The ABB I really enjoy hearing them open a show with Hot 'lanta. One of my fav's of them. There are so many to choose from though.
I would have to say for me
Concert:Hot 'lanta or Dont Want You No more
CD: Humble Pie-Up Your Sleeves and Good Times Bad Times- Zep

So what are yours. I am sure there are many great ones!!!

I like the Brothers to start with a couple of good old bluesy tunes, but kick into Statesboro Blues or another rocker/dance tune by about the 3rd tune to get people up and moving.

On a tangent... I actually thought you were going to ask a different, more obvious question!

Nothing beats the raw excitement of those opening riffs of "Statesboro Blues" starts the show off with a bang! Don't Want you No More/Not My Cross to Bear is my second choice.

Statesboro Blues is my live pick as well for the ABB.

Rock N Roll by Zeppelin on SRTS is a great song to kick off the album side....and it would be great in concert.

Start Me Up by the Stones is obvious, but it does work well.

I always had fun at GD shows when Jerry opened with Touch of Grey...always. Shakedown is another great Dead opener, as is Feel Like A Stranger.

But for the ABB, Statesboro is what I want and expect....it's just perfect for me.

In that case, it would be the entire Eat A Peach album.....

My favorite opener is DWYNM>AMCTB>Statesboro, slight pause then, DKMW....

I could die and go to heaven a very happy woman if I ever witnessed this opener:
DWYNM>AMCTB>YDLM>DWYNM>AMCTB>Statesboro>DKMW..... Goodness gracious, those with heart conditions couldn't take it! It'd be absolute bliss!

I'm with Libby on this My favorite opener is DWYNM>INMCTB.

But I really liked Sailin Cross The Devils Sea back when they did that in 94 or so.

For ABB, I'd go with Statesboro Blues, for Gregg, I'd say I'm No Angel, for KISS I'd say Deuce(there's a reason KISS Alive! is their most popular record....lol), for AC/DC, I'd say TNT or Meltdown, for Black Sabbath, Paranoid is a good opener, w/Dio I'd say Neon Knights, w/ Tony Martin, I'd say Headless Cross or Rusty Angels, for Elton John I'd go with Take Me To The Pilot, for Queen I'd say Princes of the Universe.....those are my best openers at 4 am........

Don't Want you No More/Not My Cross to Bear

first thing i heard from the ABB, blasting from my friend's 8-track after he picked me up thumbing after class senior year in high school.

still gets the juices flowing after all these years.
